This self-catering holiday accommodation set in the crofting area a mile from Plockton village centre in the Highlands of Scotland is formed by the conversion of the byre and hayloft at Camus Fearn.
The Barn has a modern decor with tiled and wood floors, rugs, white woodwork and lots of windows and is accessed along a quiet road.
The Barn has its own private parking area and a decking with plenty of room to sit out – although you could have the odd cow and her curious calf peering over the fence at you.
The accommodation is arranged on two floors. The Barn’s entrance, on the ground floor, is accessed via a decking ramp for ease of entry. The upstairs rooms are accessed via a wooden staircase. The ground floor area of the building is used for storage – a good place for cyclists to keep their bicycles.
The Barn has a panoramic view from the doorstep and the windows in the sitting room, and is surrounded on three sides by sea lochs and the mountains of Skye, Applecross, Torridon and beyond – keen photographers will revel in the fabulous sunsets.
There is abundant wildlife in the area, including pine marten, otter, fox, badger and deer as well as many varieties of birds – chase away the sparrow hawk at the bird table below your bedroom window and watch the swallows swooping down to feed their young perched on your decking handrail.
The Dubhaird area is an excellent base for both local walks and for exploration of the west coast and Skye. The footpaths to Dubhaird beach and Port Luinge’s coral beach are minutes away. For the more ambitious, a three-hour walk takes you from the Barn door to the top of the Duncraig Crags and back. The famously pretty village of Plockton is just a very short drive or an easy walk away.
Camus Fearn Barn sleeps two people in a double room, welcomes one well behaved dog and is a non-smoking accommodation.
The sitting room has a comfy sofa, TV (with satellite box and DVD player), a CD/radio player, a selection of books, CDs, DVDs and maps. The windows look out to the countryside with the sea and mountains in the distance.
The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, an electric cooker, a microwave oven, an electric toaster, a fridge and is fully equipped with kettle, pots and pans, utensils, and so on.
With a double bed and plenty of storage, the bedroom is a relaxing room. It also features French doors which open out onto a Juliet balcony. There is a hair dryer and an alarm clock/radio.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower with heated towel rail, shaver point and storage unit.
Towels are included.
Downstairs there is a utility room that includes a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board. The downstairs cloakroom has a WC, wash basin and houses the gas boiler (gas central heating is included in the booking fee).
Outside there is a decked area with table and chairs.
