Imagine holding your wedding in the highland village of Plockton, with its beautiful bay overlooking Loch Carron and the mountains beyond.
The village hall can be hired for the wedding reception, or, if you are planning a larger event, a marquee can be erected in the hall gardens leaving the hall itself free for the ceremony.
If you prefer a religious wedding there is the local church or, if you fancy something more quirky why not get married at sea on board the ‘Sula Mhor’ as she sails you around the bay. Who knows, you might even see some dolphins on your wedding day!
If a traditional wedding is not what you want, why not elope or have just a few friends and family with you? There are lots of wonderful little spots that would be suitable for smaller groups.
In Scotland, you can get married anywhere, as long as the person conducting the ceremony is legally recognized so you can choose from a minister or priest, or a humanist or independent celebrant and of course a registrar. Whichever type of wedding you want though, there are some legalities that must be completed so check out this link for further information: www.nrscotland.gov.uk/registration/getting-married-in-scotland
All the usual wedding suppliers are available locally including wedding photographer, hair and make up services, a wonderful florist, car and bus hire, pipers, ceilidh bands and local caterers who can supply anything from a buffet to a four course meal or a pig on a spit, if that’s what you fancy. And, if you want to leave the organizing to someone else, there is even a local wedding planner.
