Regatta

A highlight of the sailing calendar – both from a sailing and a social perspective – is the famous Plockton Small Boat Sailing Club (PSBSC) annual regatta, which is an exciting summer fortnight for locals and visitors. Traditionally, the Regatta starts during the last week of July.

Sailing races are spread throughout the fortnight and include races for all ages and all types of craft. The fleet of Plockton Local Boats, traditionally clinker-built with large colourful sails, provides quite a spectacle when racing in the bay. Visitors are very welcome to join in the regatta (pending usual entry requirements) and many visitors tow their boats to Plockton to join in the fortnight and return year after year.

The regatta reaches its colourful conclusion with an entertaining concert and ceilidh on the second Friday, followed by the children’s Ragamuffin Race and dancing in the street on Regatta Saturday.
